Girls Varsity Competitive Cheer · KML Cheer Earns Their Program’s 12th State Championship!


The Kettle Moraine Lutheran Varsity Cheer Team concluded a successful competitive season at the WACPC (Wisconsin Association of Cheer/Pom Coaches) State Championships on March 1-2 in La Crosse.

On Friday, March 1 the team earned a spot to compete in the Finals with an outstanding qualifier performance.  Regardless of team size or division, KML was the 2nd highest scoring team out of 75 teams in the qualifier round.

The KML Stunt Groups also concluded their season with strong performances:

  • Maddy Knueppel, Kelly Bramel, Miriam Helwig, Emma Holzhauer, Clara Kugler – 6th overall (pictured below)
  • Amanda Nank, Katie Engstrom, Casey Mueller, Maddy Wagner, Ellie Loeffler – 8th overall (pictured bottom)


On Saturday, March 2nd, after a well-executed, energetic performance, the strongest of their season, the KML Cheer Team was named 2019 State Champions in the All-Girl Large division. The team was also the 4th highest overall scoring team of the day, regardless of division (school size or team size), out of the 40 finalists.

In addition to the team awards, senior, Miriam Helwig and juniors, Emma Pagel and Peyton Weber performed their individual routine for the 2019 All-State Cheer Finals.  They earned the opportunity to advance to the Finals through a video submission in January.  We are proud to share that all three KML athletes earned positions on the 2019 All-State Team.

All the KML cheerleaders are thankful to their parents and supporters for the encouragement and prayers throughout the season. They are also extremely thankful to our Lord and Savior for blessing all their endeavors! To God be the Glory!
