“Go 1-0”

Your 2018 Division 3 Boys Basketball Regional Champions did just that! The Chargers knocked off #1 seeded, #2 ranked in State, Brown Deer Falcons by a score of 67-57 in order to secure the long awaited Regional Championship crown! To those outside of KML this is seen as a major upset, but for anyone that has watched these boys play it was no surprise at all. The game started off rough as the Chargers tried to work out the jitters and nerves finding themselves quickly down 3-10 in the first few minutes of the game. However, after a quick timeout to regroup, the Chargers zeroed in on their target and played some of their best basketball of the season. For the rest of the game, the Chargers were able to withstand the runs that Brown Deer made, often time countering the attack with one of their own. The deeper into the game, the stronger the Chargers defense got, which was evident in the final score of the game. Against a team that was averaging 80+ points per game, the Chargers held them to only 57 total points with only 27 points in the 2nd half allowed. It was in the final minutes of the game, the Chargers made stops on defense, showed excellent ball security on offense, and hit critical free throws to help seal the victory.

Offensively, the Chargers saw 4 players score in double figures. Jacob Stoltz, Solomon Zarling, and Zach Zuleger each scored 16 points and Grant Biesterfeld was not far behind with 11 points. Of that trio of 16 point scorers, Solomon Zarling found himself with another double-double as he also pulled down 12 rebounds.

This milestone for the Chargers makes every alumni that came before them in this program incredibly proud. However, the journey is not over yet. The Chargers have their eyes focused on greater goals, with the #1 goal being “Go 1-0”. The Chargers will look to “Go 1-0” this Thursday, 3/8, against Dominican in the Sectional Semi-Final at Brookfield Central.
