The number one team in the State came to KML on Tuesday and were gifted 4 unearned runs from the host team to allow them to win a close one. Defense has been a strength for the Chargers this season, but the gloves turned on them a bit in this big conference match-up. After giving up 3 unearned runs in the first 2 innings, KML bounced back to tie the game in the bottom of the 2nd inning. After Caleb Martens led off with a single, Nick Ninmann and Dylan Loduha both walked with one out to load the bases. Brady Herman then singled in 2 runs and Jacob Stoltz hit a sacrifice fly to right field to tie the game. Waupun scored one in the 3rd, but the Chargers bounced right back in the bottom half with a sacrifice fly from Jared Metz scoring Danny Cain to again tie the game. It went to the 7th inning still 4-4 when the Warriors cashed in on another unearned run. Caleb Martens and Jacob Stanossek combined on a 5-hitter. Martens also led at the plate going 2 for 2. No matter the situation, this young Charger team continues to show heart and character as they stood tall against the defending State Champions.
