Last Saturday, your JV Chargers traveled to Hartford Union HS to play in the Washington County Invite. In pool play, the Chargers took on Kewaskum first. Starting out very strong with a 25-14 victory. Payton Schmidt led with six kills and Angela Busalacchi with six straight serves in set one. Sadly, set two did not fare as well and we dropped set two 17-25.
Next up was Hartford, who lost both of their sets to Kewaskum. We had hoped to use this to our advantage to make up lost ground. We battled back and forth all the way through but unfortunately came up short 24-26 in both sets. Keturah Kremer led us in serves with six straight.
With three loses, we earned a second place spot in bracket play to play against first seeded team: Germantown. Your Chargers came out playing very well and kept Liz Aswege at the service line- racking up the last twelve straight points. Germantown however, did not go away quietly and ended up winning the match. This now left your Chargers to face West Bend East for for a fifth placed spot.
In a slow start against WBE, we finally got into a groove , with Julia Holst setting Peyton Schmidt for six kills. The team also worked well together keeping Liz Aswege on the service line to tally up seven straight serves allowing us to take set one. Set two was also a win with three kills from Peyton Schmidt, Keturah Kremer, and Alex Sterrenburg respectively. Setter Alexa Schwalenberg found success at the service line with six straight serves as we ended the day with a fifth place spot. Great job Chargers!
