Grace Cain’s double-double and some clutch 3 point shots in the second half was the difference in the season opener. Cain led the Chargers with 10 points and 11 rebounds. She got the scoring started with the first two baskets of the game to give KML a 4-0 lead. After that, the offense showed to be inconsistent and needed two big steals and layups from Emma Strohm to keep the game close at half. It was the second half where the Chargers finally stepped up and hit some big 3 pointers. Rachel Frey and Emma Strohm both hit 3’s and at the 10 minute mark KML was up by 5. Grace Cain hit a 3 a bit later and after some clutch free throws down the stretch, the Chargers got their fist win of the season. Strohm had 7 points, while Ryen Pagano added 6 points and 6 rebounds. The next game for the Chargers is next Friday as they play Whitnall at the Brookfield Central Thanksgiving Shootout at 3:45.
