The Chargers Varsity softball team continued their strong start to the season with a 9-3 victory over Lomira on Monday evening. They fell behind 1-0 after a half inning when a two out ground ball took a bad hop on 2nd baseman Sophia Heckendorf. They stormed back in the bottom of the 1st with 5 runs of their own. Lomira scored twice in the top of the 2nd, but they wouldn’t score again the rest of the game. KML scored once in the bottom of the 2nd and put the game away with 3 more runs in the 4th.
The Chargers pounded out 15 hits. Jamie Maas had 3 hits including a double. Sophia Heckendorf, Katie Scherf, Jordyn Heckendorf, Ellie Kudek, and Brooke Voigt each had 2 hits. Jordyn Heckendorf had 4 RBIs.
Scherf pitched the complete game and improved to 4-0 on the season. With some solid defense behind her, she allowed just 2 earned runs over 7 innings of work.
Next game is Tuesday @ Kewaskum. Game time 4:45pm.
