KML varsity softball lost for the 1st time on Tuesday in Kewaskum. The game lived up to expectations as both teams are expected to be in the heart of the battle for the conference title. It was anticipated that it would be a close, low scoring affair and didn’t disappoint. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 4th inning. After a one-out error and a single, it looked like the Chargers would get out of the inning unscathed when the next batter struck out, but a couple of two-out singles and another error led to 3 runs. The score remained 3-0 until KML scored a run in the top of the 6th with the help of a couple of Kewaskum errors. The Chargers did get the tying run to the plate with 1 out in the 7th, but a couple of strikeouts ended their comeback bid and the game.
Sophia Heckendorf, Katie Scherf, and Jamie Maas got the only three hits that the Chargers managed to get in the game.
Scherf took the loss for the Chargers and fell to 4-1 on the season. She allowed 5 hits and zero earned runs in 6 innings. She walked one intentionally and struck out 5.
KML’s next scheduled game is Thursday @ KML vs. Plymouth at 4:45pm.
